Radon Mitigation Photo Album: Five-Point Radon Mitigation System Planned for Sherman Home
This Sherman home has an older fieldstone foundation and three dirt crawl spaces that require a coordinated mitigation approach. The planned five-point system will use three extraction points in the crawl spaces and two in the main foundation, powered by a Festa Hawk fan. Concrete sealing will address identified openings where soil gases may enter, while crawl space encapsulation will be completed by CT Basement Systems. The system design takes the home’s age and multiple foundation areas into account.
Dirt Crawl Space and Fieldstone Foundation
The crawl space has an exposed dirt and sand floor with an older fieldstone foundation, highlighting the conditions considered when planning radon extraction and crawl space encapsulation.
Main Foundation Extraction Point
A radon extraction pipe enters through the concrete floor near the fieldstone wall, forming one of the collection points in the planned five-point mitigation layout.
Festa Hawk Radon Mitigation Fan
The Festa Hawk fan is mounted on the exterior piping and provides the suction needed to draw soil gases from beneath the foundation and vent them outdoors.
Exterior Piping Along the Fieldstone Foundation
The exterior view shows the system piping near the home's fieldstone foundation, with the surrounding area providing context for the pipe routing and foundation conditions.
Completed Exterior Radon Vent System
The exterior piping runs vertically up the siding and terminates above the roofline, while the Festa Hawk fan is mounted near the foundation to help move soil gases safely outdoors.
