Photo Album: Three-Point Radon Mitigation System Replacement in Oakville
This Oakville project involved replacing an older three-point radon mitigation system that had become too noisy to operate comfortably. We removed the old basement fan and existing piping, then installed new Schedule 40 PVC throughout the system. A new Festa Hawk fan was installed outdoors, along with replacement exterior piping. Follow-up radon testing can help verify the performance of the upgraded system.
Existing Radon System Manometer
The existing system's manometer provides a visual indication of the vacuum pressure in the radon mitigation system. The old system was replaced as part of the upgrade to address the noise and vibration issues.
New Interior Radon Piping
New Schedule 40 PVC piping was installed to replace the old system's interior pipework. The upgraded piping connects the extraction points to the new outdoor fan.
Completed Exterior Radon System
The new Festa Hawk fan is installed outdoors, with replacement piping routed up the exterior of the home and above the roofline. Moving the fan outside helps reduce the noise and vibration that previously affected the basement and living areas.
Existing Fan and Basement Piping
The original radon fan was located inside the basement and connected to the existing pipe network. The fan's vibration traveled throughout the home, making the system disruptive to run.
Existing Exterior Pipe Routing
The existing exterior radon piping is routed up the exterior of the home and above the roofline.
