This New Hartford job required a custom multi-point mitigation system for a single-family A-frame home, where the radon level tested 21 pCi/L. The property, owned by a couple with children, includes a 1989 main structure and a 2011 addition, resulting in three separate foundation areas.
There is no sump pump, crawl space, or water intrusion, but the layout necessitated a complex pipe configuration.
The client arranged the consultation in advance but noted that no one would be home prior to noon, as their child had a gymnastics class. The technician reviewed the layout remotely and confirmed the client's preference for minimal visual intrusion and full mitigation.
Each suction point was strategically placed to align with slab conditions, proximity to major mechanicals (oil tank, well tank), and ease of external routing. Special considerations were taken to ensure the exit point would be in the gym area on the right side of the house, where exterior aesthetics were a priority.
The system will be powered by a high-capacity fan to support all five draw points, ensuring the radon level is brought well below the EPA action level.
