Experienced radon testing & radon mitigation contractor in Orange

Does your home or property have high radon levels? If levels are above 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends installing a radon reduction system. As a tasteless, odorless, and invisible gas, radon can only be identified through testing. So if you're not sure about your property, Apex Radon Solutions is the trusted radon mitigation company that can help you answer this question!

Health facts about home radon:

  • Radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in the United States.
  • More than 20,000 Americans die of radon-related lung cancer every year.
  • Radon is a more significant health risk for children than adults.
  • Breathing radon poses a greater health risk than ingesting water that contains radon.
  • Smokers exposed to radon will substantially increase their likelihood of developing lung cancer.

While having any amount of radon in your home or building can be scary, there is no reason to worry. The modern radon mitigation systems from Apex Radon Solutions are highly effective in reducing home radon levels without causing much inconvenience.

Job Stories From Orange, CT
Radon Testing Planned Ahead of Basement Renovation in Orange

In Orange, we scheduled professional radon testing for a homeowner who is preparing for an upcoming basement renovation project.

When the homeowner first moved into the property, radon levels were reported around 10 pCi/L. Since then, improvements were made to the basement, including sealing the sump area, which helped reduce radon entry and improve overall indoor air quality conditions.

With plans to renovate and potentially increase use of the basement living space, the homeowner wanted updated testing completed to better understand current radon levels before construction begins.

Professional radon testing provides valuable information before finishing or remodeling lower-level spaces, helping homeowners make informed decisions about any additional mitigation improvements that may be beneficial during the renovation process.

The project focused on establishing current radon conditions within the home so future renovation work can move forward with confidence and a clear understanding of indoor air quality.

Radon Mitigation and Crawl Space Encapsulation Planned for Orange Home

In Orange, we worked with a homeowner who recently tested the property for radon after living in the home for nearly three decades. The home had originally been tested when purchased, and recent readings measured above 5.0 pCi/L.

The homeowner also shared concerns related to ongoing lung health, making improved indoor air quality an important priority.

The home, built in 1964, requires a one-pipe radon mitigation system to be installed near the oil tank area, with venting routed out the right side of the house.

In addition to the mitigation system, a small exposed earth area surrounding the well tank was identified for encapsulation. The space measures approximately 3.5 by 4.5 feet and contains loose stone open to the ground. A CleanSpace encapsulation system is planned to help isolate the exposed soil and reduce potential radon entry from that section beneath the home.

The overall design focuses on improving sub-slab airflow while sealing exposed earth areas contributing to radon movement into the home.

Four-Pipe Radon Mitigation System Designed for Multi-Foundation Home in Orange

In Orange, we evaluated a home where radon levels tested at 7.6 pCi/L after the homeowner decided to test for radon for the first time in many years. The homeowner has lived in the property for more than a decade and wanted to improve indoor air quality for the family, including young children living in the home.

The property includes four separate foundation areas, including two crawl spaces located at the front and rear of the house. One of the crawl spaces at the front of the home also has a visible crack that was identified for sealing as part of the mitigation plan.

One foundation area already includes a sealed sump pump and water management system, which will be integrated into the overall design.

Due to the complexity of the layout, a four-pipe radon mitigation system was designed to provide balanced airflow across all foundation sections. The system is planned to vent out the left side of the house when facing the property.

Additional discussions were held regarding a possible extraction point in the sunken foundation area, allowing the homeowner flexibility in how the system may be completed over time.

This approach was designed to provide broad coverage across the multiple foundations while addressing known entry points and crawl space conditions.

One-Pipe Radon Mitigation System Installed in Orange Home

In Orange, we worked on a home built in 1957 where radon levels tested at 4.0 pCi/L shortly after the homeowner moved into the property.

The home has a single foundation with no sump pump or crawl space, allowing for a straightforward mitigation layout. The homeowner was referred through a trusted local connection and wanted to address the radon levels early after moving in.

A one-pipe radon mitigation system was installed and routed out the right rear side of the home. The exterior venting was positioned between two windows near the back of the house to maintain clean system placement while providing effective airflow beneath the slab.

This setup was designed to provide reliable radon reduction while fitting naturally within the layout of the property.

Radon Mitigation in Orange - Dual Pipe System with Add-On Options

With radon levels measuring 4.8 pCi/L, this Orange, CT home built in 1977 needed effective coverage across its cement foundation and crawl space. We installed a two-pipe system, ensuring balanced pressure and airflow.
The homeowner expressed interest in a Sedona dehumidifier and ductwork setup for moisture control and was informed about well water testing ($280) with a sample bottle available onsite for convenience. This setup keeps the door open for future indoor air quality improvements.

New Homeowner, New Start: Radon First, Sedona Next? - Orange, CT

On July 3, 2025, we installed a radon mitigation system in this 1957 home in Orange, CT—right as the new homeowner was moving in. The radon level tested at 8.3 pCi/L, and the house had a sealed sump but no water guard or encapsulation. The system was installed in the left rear corner near the Bilco door, with discharge out the side. During install, we also discussed the Aprilaire Sedona dehumidifier for future moisture control. Client expressed interest in doing radon mitigation first and revisiting Sedona afterward. Brochure provided during install—follow-up may be needed in the coming weeks.
