Job Stories From Milford, CT
Continuous Radon Monitoring Scheduled for Milford Home

In Milford, continuous radon monitoring (CRM) was scheduled to evaluate current radon levels and provide an accurate assessment of indoor air quality conditions within the home.

Professional CRM testing allows homeowners to obtain detailed radon readings over the testing period while monitoring fluctuations that can occur due to weather conditions, ventilation patterns, and seasonal changes.

The testing process focuses on gathering reliable data from the home's lowest livable level to establish a clear understanding of current radon conditions and determine whether any future mitigation recommendations may be necessary.

By using professional monitoring equipment, the homeowner will receive accurate information about the home's radon levels and can make informed decisions regarding long-term indoor air quality.

The project focused on providing dependable testing results and helping ensure a healthy living environment for the home's occupants.

One-Pipe Radon Mitigation System Planned for Milford Ranch Home

In Milford, we evaluated a single-level ranch home after radon testing completed in March 2025 measured levels at approximately 4.8 pCi/L.

The home includes a single foundation layout with no crawl spaces beneath the structure, along with an existing sump pump and perimeter water management system previously installed by Connecticut Basement Systems.

During the consultation, special attention was given to the existing sump and water guard systems since proper airflow control around drainage components plays an important role in maintaining effective long-term radon mitigation performance.

A one-pipe radon mitigation system was designed with vent routing planned along the left side of the home to improve airflow beneath the slab while maintaining a clean and practical installation layout.

The project focused on improving indoor air quality while carefully coordinating the mitigation strategy around the home’s existing drainage infrastructure.

One-Pipe Radon Mitigation System Planned for Milford Home

In Milford, we evaluated a home built around 1948 after radon levels tested at approximately 4 pCi/L.

The home includes a sump pump and perimeter water management system already installed beneath the basement floor. During the consultation, we discussed the importance of properly sealing those areas as part of maintaining strong sub-slab airflow and improving long-term mitigation performance.

The mitigation system was designed with a single extraction point planned within the unfinished section of the basement near the sump area to improve airflow beneath the foundation.

To maintain a cleaner exterior appearance, the vent routing was planned along the rear side of the home with the piping positioned behind the chimney area on the exterior.

The project focused on improving indoor air quality while coordinating the mitigation layout carefully around the existing basement drainage infrastructure.

Two-Pipe Radon Mitigation System Planned for Milford Home

In Milford, we evaluated a home built in 1964 where radon levels tested at 7.0 pCi/L.

The property includes one main concrete foundation along with a crawl space area that has already been covered with CleanSpace material. The homeowner believes there is concrete beneath the encapsulated crawl space, which will help support airflow and mitigation performance beneath that section of the home.

To address the elevated radon levels, a two-pipe mitigation system was designed. One extraction point is planned for the main foundation, while the second extraction point will address the crawl space section beneath the home.

The property does not include a sump pump or water management system, allowing the mitigation design to focus primarily on improving airflow and communication beneath both foundation sections.

During the visit, ventilation improvements were also discussed, including the possibility of upgrading from an HRV system to an ERV system to further support indoor air quality and balanced air exchange within the home.

Manometer Replacement Completed on Radon Mitigation System in Milford

In Milford, we serviced an existing radon mitigation system by replacing the manometer used to monitor system airflow and pressure.

The manometer is an important part of a radon mitigation system because it allows homeowners to quickly confirm that the system is operating properly. Replacing worn or damaged monitoring components helps maintain confidence in long-term system performance.

The service visit focused on restoring accurate system monitoring while ensuring the mitigation system continued operating as intended.

Radon System Hardwire Upgrade and Fan Evaluation in Milford

In Milford, we reviewed an existing radon mitigation system that had last been tested approximately one year ago.

During the visit, the homeowner mentioned that the fan had become somewhat louder over time. The system was inspected to evaluate overall operation and review possible improvements to the electrical setup.

The radon fan was currently plugged into a GFI outlet located on the exterior of the home. To provide a cleaner and more permanent installation, hardwiring the fan was recommended as an upgrade option.

The goal was to improve both the long-term reliability of the system and the overall appearance and durability of the electrical connection.

Three-Pipe Radon Mitigation System Installed Across Multiple Foundations in Milford

In Milford, we worked on a home built in 1965 with multiple foundation sections and varying radon levels throughout the property. Radon readings measured 5.6 pCi/L in the front basement area and 4.6 pCi/L in the rear basement section.

The home includes three separate foundation areas, including a crawl space with an existing CleanSpace encapsulation system installed by Connecticut Basement Systems. All sump pump areas were already sealed as part of the waterproofing setup.

To provide balanced coverage throughout the home, a three-pipe radon mitigation system was installed. The first extraction point was placed in the third foundation area, the second in the encapsulated crawl space, and the third in the main foundation.

The system was routed out the right side of the home when facing the property, allowing for organized exterior venting while addressing all foundation sections beneath the house.

This setup was designed to improve airflow across the different foundation zones and provide more consistent radon reduction throughout the property.

Customizing Radon Mitigation in a 1961 Milford Ranch

In Milford, the owner of a 1961 ranch-style home with a radon level of 6.3 required a tailored mitigation solution due to the limited access in a mostly finished basement. Our approach centered on utilizing the small 11x15 area that was accessible, integrating a one-pipe system with the existing water guard. This targeted effort not only addressed the radon concerns effectively but also maintained the aesthetic and functional integrity of the home’s finished spaces.
