Job Stories From Madison, CT
Advanced Five-Point Radon Mitigation System Planned for Madison Home with Extremely Elevated Radon Levels

In Madison, we evaluated a home built around 1985 after radon testing revealed levels exceeding 200 pCi/L during the home sale process.

Because of the extremely elevated readings, the original buyer stepped away from the transaction, leading the homeowners to move forward with a comprehensive mitigation strategy to significantly improve indoor air quality conditions throughout the property.

The home includes both finished and unfinished basement areas, requiring a large-scale mitigation layout designed to improve airflow beneath multiple sections of the foundation.

A five-point extraction system was planned to create broader sub-slab communication beneath the home. The design includes one extraction point beneath the basement stairs, another within the finished basement area, and three additional extraction points distributed throughout the unfinished basement sections.

Additional airflow sealing improvements were also included as part of the project, including sealing foundation cracks, addressing corner leakage areas, and installing a sealed sump cover to strengthen system performance and reduce unwanted air movement beneath the slab.

The project focused on creating an aggressive, high-capacity mitigation strategy capable of addressing extremely elevated radon conditions while improving long-term indoor air quality throughout the home.

One-Pipe Radon Mitigation System Planned for Historic Madison Colonial

In Madison, we evaluated a colonial-style home built around 1940 after radon levels tested at 5.7 pCi/L during a recent inspection.

The home includes a finished basement area along with a smaller unfinished utility section and a field stone foundation beneath the structure. Because older field stone foundations often present unique airflow conditions beneath the home, the mitigation strategy focused on improving sub-slab communication while working carefully within the existing basement layout.

A one-pipe radon mitigation system was designed with placement planned within the unfinished basement area and vent routing along the right side of the home.

The homeowners are also completing additional work on the property, making this an ideal time to address indoor air quality improvements while basement access remains more flexible.

The project focused on creating effective airflow beneath the foundation while maintaining a clean installation layout within the partially finished lower level of the home.

Radon System Status Check in Madison Home

In Madison, we reviewed a home with an existing radon mitigation system that was last tested in 2023.

With a system already in place, the focus is on confirming that it continues to operate as expected and that radon levels remain within a safe range. Regular testing and periodic checks help ensure long-term performance and peace of mind.
