Experienced radon testing & radon mitigation contractor in Hamden

Does your home or property have high radon levels? If levels are above 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends installing a radon reduction system. As a tasteless, odorless, and invisible gas, radon can only be identified through testing. So if you're not sure about your property, Apex Radon Solutions is the trusted radon mitigation company that can help you answer this question!

Health facts about home radon:

  • Radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in the United States.
  • More than 20,000 Americans die of radon-related lung cancer every year.
  • Radon is a more significant health risk for children than adults.
  • Breathing radon poses a greater health risk than ingesting water that contains radon.
  • Smokers exposed to radon will substantially increase their likelihood of developing lung cancer.

While having any amount of radon in your home or building can be scary, there is no reason to worry. The modern radon mitigation systems from Apex Radon Solutions are highly effective in reducing home radon levels without causing much inconvenience.

At Apex Radon Solutions, we can help you choose the correct radon mitigation solution for your home and ensure that the installation process goes smoothly.

Job Stories From Hamden, CT
One-Point Radon Mitigation System Planned for Hamden Colonial Home

In Hamden, we evaluated a colonial-style home after radon testing measured approximately 5.0 pCi/L.

The home is currently under contract, with a closing anticipated at the end of July. To address the elevated radon level before the transaction is completed, a mitigation system was designed to provide reliable long-term radon reduction for the future homeowners.

The property features a partially unfinished basement with no crawl space, no sump pump, and no water management system. Based on the foundation layout, a one-point radon mitigation system was recommended.

The extraction point will be installed behind the washer and dryer area, providing an effective location for sub-slab depressurization while keeping the system discreet. The homeowner has advised that the washer and dryer will be moved out of the way prior to installation to provide clear access to the work area.

The vent piping will exit along the right side of the home and continue above the roofline for proper discharge. Due to the height of the home and planned vent route, a tall ladder will be required to complete the installation safely.

The project focuses on reducing radon levels, supporting the upcoming real estate transaction, and ensuring a healthier indoor environment for the future occupants.

Three-Point Radon Mitigation System Planned Following Elevated Radon Levels in Hamden Home

In Hamden, we evaluated a home after the homeowner noticed a spike in radon levels. Recent testing measured approximately 4.8 pCi/L, prompting a review of the home's foundation layout and mitigation needs.

The property consists of one main foundation and two crawl spaces. One crawl space measures approximately 24 feet by 5 feet and features cinder block walls, while the second crawl space has a concrete floor. Because multiple foundation sections can contribute independently to radon entry, a multi-point mitigation strategy was recommended.

The proposed design includes a three-point radon mitigation system to provide effective coverage across the foundation and crawl space areas. The vent system is planned to exit along the right side of the house behind the chimney, creating a discreet and efficient routing path.

The home also contains a sump pump and water management system. During the consultation, it was noted that the water guard system is not currently sealed. The homeowner plans to contact

Connecticut Basement Systems to discuss sealing the water guard, which can help reduce soil gas entry pathways and improve overall mitigation performance.

By addressing the multiple foundation sections and coordinating improvements to the water management system, the project is designed to provide long-term radon reduction and improved indoor air quality throughout the home.

Low-Noise Radon Mitigation Design for Raised Ranch Home in Hamden

In Hamden, we evaluated a raised ranch home after radon levels tested just under 3.0 pCi/L.

The homeowners had previously owned a home in New York with a radon mitigation system already in place, so they were familiar with the importance of maintaining healthy indoor air quality and wanted to proactively lower levels in their current home as well.

The layout of the home includes a centrally located boiler room next to the garage, which was selected as the preferred installation area for the mitigation system. A one-pipe system was designed to run through the garage and vent safely along the side of the home.

Because the homeowner records music within the property, minimizing operational sound was an important part of the consultation. The system design focused on creating effective sub-slab airflow while maintaining quieter operation and thoughtful equipment placement near the living and recording areas of the home.

The project planning centered on balancing indoor air quality improvements with practical sound-conscious system design.

Radon Mitigation System Installed in 1870 Home with Sump Upgrade

We worked on a home built around 1870 where the new owners had recently purchased the property but had not moved in yet. Radon levels tested at 7.0+ pCi/L, so a mitigation system was needed before occupancy.

The home has a fieldstone foundation and an unfinished basement, which required a system designed to work across both the slab and foundation areas. We installed a two-pipe radon mitigation system, with one pipe placed in the slab and the other in the main foundation near the washing machine.

The existing sump pump did not have a cover, so we discussed sealing it properly as part of the system. The homeowners also expressed interest in adding a battery backup system for additional protection.

This setup provides full coverage while working within the layout of the basement and preparing the home for safe occupancy.

Interior Mitigation with Sump Pump Cover in Hamden

This 1975 Hamden property measured radon levels at 7 pCi/L. While there was no electricity on-site during the initial visit, the plan was clear: install an interior mitigation system running through the garage, and properly seal the sump pump, which was located in the same area. The sewer hole was flagged for the homeowner to fill in, and the job required minimal modifications thanks to the home’s layout. The result is a discreet, efficient mitigation system that’s future-proof and functional.

Low-Level Radon, Big Peace of Mind - Hamden Ranch Home Install

In this 1959 ranch-style home in Hamden, a radon test returned a reading of 3.9 pCi/L — just below the EPA’s action level, but still a concern for long-term health. With no sump pump, water guard, or crawl space, a simple one-pipe system was the most efficient and cost-effective solution.

The installation team worked quickly, placing the system through the cement foundation and routing it externally to minimize indoor disruption. The homeowner was pleased with the clean install and the reassurance of long-term safety.

Hamden Colonial with Cinder Block Foundation Gets One-Pipe Radon System

This 1920-built colonial in Hamden, CT was due for a radon system after testing at 4.0 pCi/L. With a solid cinder block and brick foundation, and no sump pump or cracks, the home was a great candidate for a one-pipe system. Our team entered via the Bilco door, accessed through the right-side fence gate, and completed the installation without any need for extra piping or waterproofing work. A quick and clean install for safe, breathable air.

Custom Radon Mitigation for a 1983 Hamden Residence

In Hamden, CT, the owners of a 1983 home with a radon level of 5 sought a radon mitigation solution that would integrate seamlessly with their home's existing structure. Our team installed a new radon mitigation system with the pipe placed strategically near the furnace and exiting out the right side of the house, close to the AC units. This approach not only ensured effective radon reduction but also considered the aesthetic and practical aspects of the home, avoiding any major disruptions to the living space.

Custom Radon Mitigation for a 1984 Split Ranch in Hamden, CT

I n 1984, a split ranch in Hamden, CT, was built with radon levels initially measured at 5.6. To address this, our team designed a custom radon mitigation system that would blend seamlessly with the home's structure. We strategically placed the mitigation pipe next to the washer and dryer, routing it outside towards the shed side of the house to ensure effective radon extraction without compromising the home’s design. This project showcases our commitment to providing tailored solutions that respect both the homeowner's needs and property aesthetics.
